Festival Alte Musik Knechtsteden

Founded in 1992 by Hermann Max in Dormagen on the Rhine, the Festival Alte Musik Knechtsteden transforms the Romanesque monastery basilica in Knechtsteden into a stage of international standing every year in the second half of September. The focus is on individual collaboration with outstanding artists, who not as passing stars but as part of the festival family help shape the unique programs. The idea of ​​presenting early music in a way that is appropriate to the present makes the Knechtsteden Festival of Old Music with its various formats both a field for experimentation and a source of inspiration.
