The Hainburg Haydn Society was founded in 1981 by Hans Marseille and a small group of music lovers in the town where Joseph Haydn (1732–1809) attended school. From 1737 to 1740 he received his first music lessons in Hainburg and thus a wealth of musical stimuli that were to have a significant impact on his further development. There is always something new, surprising and humorous to discover in Haydn's music, far removed from the cliché of the braided "Papa Haydn", as he was often called. In the spirit of Joseph Haydn's "innovative spirit", the Hainburg Haydn Society is particularly concerned with embarking on musical journeys of discovery and making the programs as multifaceted and colorful as possible.
