Kolozsvári Magyar Opera

The Cluj-Napoca Hungarian Opera is the only professional Hungarian music theater in Transylvania, which brings almost every genre of the musical stage to the public. Opera, operetta, ballet and musical performances inspired by universal literary works can be viewed, as well as works by Hungarian composers (Erkel, Kodály, Bartók...) and contemporary authors (for example, Selmeczi). And the repertoire is even more colorful: chamber operas and children's performances can also be viewed in addition to those already listed. Since its existence, the Hungarian Opera of Cluj-Napoca has been constantly evolving, adapting to the needs of the age and the audience, becoming more and more open. As a Hungarian cultural institution in Romania, we consider it not only a task, but also a duty, to provide colorful and high-quality entertainment opportunities, taking into account the expectations of the Hungarian cultural environment. This is the institution that is unique, classy and accessible at the same time: - unique because it is the only non-official state/minority language state opera house in the world, and also the only Hungarian opera whose troupe plays four musical stage genres simultaneously - classy because opera itself as a genre is - accessible, because the program and price policy of each season is designed to meet all the needs of the audience In the present, in addition to the monthly performances, we are trying to educate the audience of the future with alternative programs such as Discover the opera for yourself! (touring the institution), organizing lesson performances or starting Operaovi.
