About

Mary Baldwin was founded in 1842 by people who understood the power of a college education to catalyze dreams — and smash glass ceilings. We were one of the first women’s colleges on the planet. Our namesake risked her life and livelihood to teach enslaved peoples. We were the first on the East Coast to offer custom degree tracks for returning and nontraditional learners. We established a thriving diversity, equity, and inclusion program more than a decade before DEI went mainstream. And the list goes on. What does this history mean for you? This passion for learning, innovation, social justice, and empowering each and every student to become their best self is who we are. Mary Baldwin is an opportunity engine designed to equip you with the skills, experience, confidence, and credentials you need to navigate a dynamic global economy and pursue a meaningful, high-impact career. You’ll learn from real-world experts and mentors who are invested in your success. With a student-faculty ratio of 10:1, professors will know your name, goals — and be there to fuel your growth and help you tackle every challenge along the way. You’ll also be introduced to a robust alumni network of trailblazing professionals ranging from data scientists, to neurosurgeons, teachers, social entrepreneurs, Broadway actors, and executive coaches. At MBU we guarantee you’ll have all the support you need and more to take your life and career to the next level.
