About

“Mixed Precipitation creates festive theatrical events that inspire social engagement, including "The Pickup Truck Opera" an outdoor, musical extravaganza! Each summer we present our signature event, an outdoor operetta, a lively theater experience touring to community gardens and other green spaces throughout the Twin Cities metro. A five-course tasting menu of locally grown, performance-inspired delicacies is served during the show. We bring together classical music, horticulture, food, and storytelling into a celebration of the urban eco-system. In this type of work, I have found that the live experience can have distinct social potential as it invites multiple forms of human interaction–singing, dancing, dining, exploring. Additionally, we present short form projects that encourage exploration of space (public, private and civic) and collaboration across disciplines. These project have included MPLS PINTER STUDIES, MPLS AUTOTELIC, TONYA and NANCY: The Opera (2010 and 2014), MOZART and the FREEMASONS: Three Short Operas Too Small to Fail, and musical adaptations of American Tall Tales. We’ve presented work in warehouses, libraries, museum and on top of frozen lakes.
