Musica Obsidian is a Non-Profit Revival Baroque Ensemble that produces obscure works from operas, cantatas, oratorios, and other Early Music projects. We are dedicated to artistic excellence and historical preservation, as well as artist inclusivity and diversity within the music world. We aspire to inspire others through the powerful, inherent beauty of historical performance while paying homage to lesser-known artists. We firmly believe that this initiative will foster a deeper appreciation for historical repertoire while creating a vibrant space for both performers and audiences alike. ---------- Through a love for early music, Musica Obsidian was founded in August 2023 by our Chief Officer, Iván Maria Feliciano Jr. We are a non-profit opera ensemble dedicated to the revival of obscure Baroque operas, canatas, and other instrumental masterpieces. Mr. Feliciano Jr. dives into musical archives, investigating manuscripts to unearth hidden obscure gems from the Baroque Era and transcibes them himself. With a commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and historical appreciation, Musica Obsidian is driven to seek and shed light on the forgotten composers, singers, and musicians who contributed to the rich tapestry of the Baroque Era. Musica Obsidian is dedicated to do meticulous research of Baroque operas, conatas, and repertoire that deserve revival along with ensuring the authenticity in their performances. ---------- We revive and preserve the artistry of obscure Baroque repertoire and lesser-known compositions. We provide opportunities for marginalized performers, thus rekindling the voices of the forgotten talents who've fallen into obscurity. We envision a community where the power of historical music transcends boundaries, unites musicians, and honors the historical contributions of artists who have been underrepresented or overlooked. We are dedicated to offering a platform that uplifts marginalized performers, especially BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists, while revitalizing Baroque music. By safeguarding the timeless beauty of these traditional works, Musica Obsidian aims to make them accessible to all audiences, fostering historical preservation and awareness in the process.
