The Trujillo Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1958 with an initial staff of 60 musicians in what used to be the House of Culture of La Libertad, giving its first official concert on July 28 of the same year.
The Italian maestro Francesco Russo was its first principal conductor and since then prominent musicians and conductors such as Ganni Rinaldi, Jose Carlos Santos, Carmen Moral, Herrera de la Fuente, Leopoldo La Rosa, Carlota Mestanza, Teófilo Álvarez, among others, have passed through its podium.
His activity and artistic development have been framed not only at the regional level but also nationally and internationally. Currently, the orchestra's productions and projections include opera, ballet, seasonal concerts, educational concerts, as well as virtual presentations.
The current artistic direction is in charge of the Trujillo musician Francisco Alarcón Melly.
