Lyric Soprano, Catherine Dupressoir, was born and raised in Montreal, and has been described by her peers and teachers as a smart and diligent musician, which is demonstrated by her interest in interpreting complex and contemporary works. She has performed excerpts from Ana Sokolovic’s Svadba and Long Songs, from David Lang’s haunting Death Speaks, and from José Evanglista’s Exercise de style. She has also enjoyed performing Mrs. Grose from Britten’s Turn of the Screw and Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder.
She was recently awarded a Jacqueline Desmarais Foundation Scholarship and a Canada Council for the Arts Grant to fund her participation in Domaine Forget’s Opera Role Study Stage. Previous training programs include Orford Music Academy and Scuola Internazionale di Teatro Italiano Giovanni Grasso.
