I organized and performed a full program of early 20th-century music for viola and piano by female, American, and violist composers. The composers featured were Lionel Tertis, Ernest Bloch, Blanche Blood, William Wolstenholme (Tertis arr.), Walter Piston, Myself, Julia Klumpkey, and Léon Honnoré. This project is important to me because it marks the beginning of my efforts to advocate both for viola pedagogy to be accomplished through music composed with viola as the intended instrument and for underappreciated music outside of the standard canon.
