Biography

Jacki Wilkicki

A former National level athlete, singles and pairs competitor.

A former coach.

A current National official for singles and pairs.

A member of USFS Grievance, Ethics, SkateSafe (formerly Safe Sport) and other committees working to improve conditions for athletes and strategize on new concepts to provide the support needed.

A survivor of trauma and abuse by peers and coaches.

Over a decade in recovery after using alcohol to cope with the fallout of skating, trauma and transitioning into adult life.

Continually affected by disordered eating, starting at an early age with anorexia supported and suggested by coaches.

A mental health journeyman having run full spectrum in figure skating and working to cope with the lasting anxiety and depression from a sport that I am trying to change.

Experienced in OCD behaviors and mindsets leading to continual anxieties and less effectiveness in tasks.

A long history with Traumatic Brain Injury and the continuing side effects related to CTE-like symptoms if not CTE itself.

Battles with infertility, PCOS and hormone irregularities leading to weight gain, self image damage and metabolic challenges due to starvation as an athlete.

That's my snapshot. I have been working, guiding individuals with their specific needs along the way but most focused in the last few years as Safe Sport has become more visible, and the conversations can be had.

It is my goal to change the face of skating, the behind the scenes, work to provide assistance with mental strengthening and transitioning from one stage to another in a smooth and balanced way.

It's time to put mental health and individuals - not as athletes but as human beings - first.

Join me in my revolution. It's time to make some waves.
