Mike Crugnola (nee Ellison) co-created the Dungeons & Dragons live play podcast Adventure Incorporated in January of 2015 with Anthony Reed, focused on bringing their college improv troupe back together, exploring a burgeoning story-telling platform, and creating a story inspired by their favorite bits of popular culture - high fantasy, epic stories, and the TV show LOST. Leveraging a professional improv training background, a long acting history, and a dedication to character development, Mike takes having fun and playing games with his friends seriously.
In 2017, Mike finished the improvisation program at ColdTowne Theater in Austin, TX, earning a role on two teams with 6 week runs at the theater, "Sucker Palace" and "[Placeholder]". He also returned to scripted work for the first time in 8 years playing the role of Benedick in the William Shakespeare comedy Much Ado About Nothing with the Walking Shadow Shakespeare Company out of Providence, RI.
Since launching the Patreon for Adventure Incorporated in 2017, Mike's focus has increasingly been on the podcast: increasing production quality, building community, and supporting cast management with Reed and @StephanieCrugnola. His roles are typically logistical, technical, and emotionally-supportive: wrangling six disparate schedules in four different states, creating ~10 hours of content monthly for the show, technical-managing monthly live streams for patrons, and keeping attitudes positive around the “table” and away from it.
Mike has returned to the stage recently as a member of the 2023 #TheBaronsMen Resident Artist program, performing as Antigonus and Autolycus in their Spring production of The Winter's Tale, and will be appearing as Iachimo in #WalkingShadowShakespeareProject's Cymbeline in May.
