Biography

Alexander Quackenbush

Chicago based baritone, Alexander Quackenbush, has recently concluded a Master’s in Voice and Opera at McGill university this past year. Drawing upon his seven years of performance experience in diverse musical environments, Alexander is a dexterous performer, with stylistic competencies including the classical operatic repertoire, swing and modern jazz, the classical song repertoire as well as theatre and pop contemporary voice stylings. Notable recent appearances include Dusty in The Last Word with Thompson Street Opera Company out of Chicago, Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof with the Seagle Festival, the Father in Hänsel und Gretel with McGill Opera Theatre, and an appearance on the demo recordings for a new in progress version of Yeltsin in Texas by Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire.

 

Through both performance and instruction, Alexander also prioritizes championing new music and bringing classical music to new listeners and learners – he has participated in outreach at various schools in his home state of Wisconsin, toured across upstate New York bringing a children's opera and musical revue to 30+ schools and other venues, and has been maintaining a growing private voice studio for the past four years, teaching students ranging from ages 7 to 60. He also has participated in table reads, demo recordings and workshops of new in progress operas and musicals offering his stylistic versatility, curiosity and love of collaboration.
