Andrew Moreno is a 23 year old jazz bassist currently living in the Chicagoland area and recently graduated from Elmhurst University with a bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies. Moreno first started playing music at the age of 11 but didn’t begin to seriously study music until his second year of highschool. During the Summer of 2017, Moreno participated in Birch Creek’s Summer Jazz program. He also studied bass for two years in Chicago’s Merit School of Music Conservatory where he graduated in 2018. During this time, Moreno studied with bassists Eric Hochberg and Doug Bistrow. After Highschool, Moreno attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he studied jazz bass with multi-instrumentalist Larry Gray for one academic year. The following year, Moreno decided to transfer to Elmhurst University where he studied with bassist Ken Haebich, guitarist Neal Alger, and bassist Christian Dillingham for the rest of his undergraduate degree. Throughout his highschool and university education Andrew has continually participated in many jazz events as well as private and public functions. Presently, Moreno likes to keep busy by taking on almost any playing opportunity he can as well as teaching. Moreno recently started leading bass sectionals and private lessons at local highschools after teaching at a public music school similar to The School of Rock studios for over a year.
