Ashley Willits’ voice has been described as sensual, thrilling, poetic and incredibly versatile! “Her gift reaches deep into the heart and impacts the soul.” As a dramatic lyric soprano, her skills transcend across opera, musical theatre, gospel and jazz. Her intuitive musical interpretations are in gratitude to many years as a classical pianist. From this foundation in piano stemmed performances as an opera and musical theatre singer, choir director, and choral arranger.
She is currently a doctoral candidate at The University of Mobile in Alabama and set to graduate in spring of 2027. She holds two masters degrees; one in music with an emphasis in classical and contemporary voice from San Jose State University and one in music education from Santa Clara University. Prior to graduate school, she attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where she studied Opera and Communication. Ashley is currently a vocal and choral director in Nashville, Tennessee. Internationally, Ashley placed top 5 in Popular Voice and top 10 in Classical Voice for New York’s music competition, Music International Grand Prix (MIGP). She earned 1st place in the MIGP San Francisco Semifinals in Classical and Popular Voice. At the Cal-Western Regional Finals she placed 1st in Classical Voice and 2nd in Musical Theatre Voice. She won the Edwin Barlow Post-Collegiate Award at NATS and 1st place in Advanced Classical Voice. This year she debuted singing at Carnegie Hall in New York. This summer she was selected to perform at the International Lyric Academy in Italy cast as 1st Lady in Mozart’s, Marriage of Figaro and understudy for Alice in Verdi’s, Falstaff. Family and God are the most important elements of her life and serving others through music is her mission to make the world a more beautiful place.
