Bastiaan Everink

The Dutch baritone Bastiaan Everink had already completed a career as an elite soldier before deciding on a singing career and had been awarded for his participation in a multinational peace operation in the Gulf War. In 2015 he published his book: “From elite soldier to opera singer”. Based on this impressive vita, Robert Zuidam has just written an opera entitled HERCULES for Bastiaan Everink, which had its world premiere in September 2019 at Concertgebouw Amsterdam under James Gaffigan and was extremely celebrated by the public and the press. Recent engagements include Peter Besenbinder / HÄNSEL & GRETEL, Klingsor at the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam and Lord Ruthven in Marschners VAMPYR in Koblenz, as well as Nabucco / NABUCCO. In May 2019, the dramatic baritone made his successful debut as RHEINGOLD-Wotan and in spring 2020 made his impressive role debut as Don Carlo di Vargas / LA FORZA DEL DESTINO in Gelsenkirchen. Future assignments include Miller / LUISA MILLER in Koblenz and Kreon in Stravinsky's OEDIPUS REX at the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam. In 1993 the charismatic baritone began studying singing at the music school in Enschede, which he later continued and completed in Amsterdam. In October 2002 he made his stage debut in the role of Escamillo / CARMEN at the Bonn Opera, where he also began his first permanent engagement. Large games such as Wolfram / TANNHÄUSER, Posa / DON CARLO, de Siriex / FEDORA and EUGEN ONEGIN followed in a short time. For Tonio / PAGLIACCI and Alfio / CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA he was invited by Brigitte Fassbaender to the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck. In 2009 he made his debut at the Nuremberg State Theater as Amonasro. Other guest engagements have taken him to Wiesbaden (Jochanaan / SALOME), Nuremberg and Frankfurt. At the start of the 2010/2011 season, Bastiaan Everink was permanently engaged at the Darmstadt State Theater, where he had already made several guest appearances. In April 2011 he also made his debut as Escamillo at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and sang there, among other things. also Enrico / LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, Monterone / RIGOLETTO, Scarpia / TOSCA, Pizarro / FIDELIO, Escamillo / CARMEN, Heerrufer / LOHENGRIN and Klingsor / PARSIFAL. In 2014 he made his very successful role and house debut in Mexico City as THE FLYING DUTCHMAN in the Palacio de Bellas Artes, a role that he has also been involved in since then. sang in Wiesbaden and at various festivals. Other roles that he has added to his repertoire in recent years include Gérard / ANDREA CHENIER, Pizarro / FIDELIO, Scarpia / TOSCA, Jago / OTELLO, Michele / TABARRO, Jochanaan / SALOME, Amonasro / AIDA and the title role in NABUCCO.
