The Dutch baritone Bastiaan Everink had already completed a career as an elite soldier before deciding on a singing career and had been awarded for his participation in a multinational peace operation in the Gulf War. In 1993 the charismatic baritone began studying singing at the music school in Enschede, which he later continued and completed in Amsterdam. In October 2002 he made his stage debut in the role of Escamillo / CARMEN at the Bonn Opera, where he also began his first permanent engagement. Large games such as Wolfram / TANNHÄUSER, Posa / DON CARLO, de Siriex / FEDORA and EUGEN ONEGIN followed in a short time. For Tonio / PAGLIACCI and Alfio / CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA he was invited by Brigitte Fassbaender to the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck. In 2009 he made his debut at the Nuremberg State Theater as Amonasro. Other guest engagements have taken him to Wiesbaden (Jochanaan / SALOME), Nuremberg and Frankfurt. At the start of the 2010/2011 season, Bastiaan Everink was permanently engaged at the Darmstadt State Theater, where he had already made several guest appearances.
