The “Brooklyn Discovery” acclaimed him as "A Rolls Royce among Fords" in 2018. His roles include Verdi's Falstaff & Ford, Germont in La Traviata, Schicchi, Scarpia among other main roles of the Verdi baritone tesitura.
The baritone has won top prizes awards in numerous international voice competitions across the States and Mexico. His most recent award was at the Verismo Opera International Competition 2018 in New York City, where he won the first prize award.
Gerardo de la Torre has been instructed by world-renowned voice teachers in the opera field: Mark Rucker (Metropolitan Opera, Michigan State University), Maitland Peters (Manhattan School of Music), Ted Taylor (New York City Opera, Mannes School of Music) and the legendary soprano from the Met Opera, Martina Arroyo.
