Biography

Ian Grems

Double Bassist Ian Grems enjoys a budding career as an orchestral, Baroque and chamber musician. He has performed on stage with the Dallas Symphony, Dallas Opera, Fort Worth Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra and joined New World Symphony as a first-year Bass Fellow in 2024.

In 2022 Ian participated in a European tour with the Baroque ensemble Fantasmi, where he performed in churches and cathedrals over 500 years old. One of his favorite concerts was given during Sunday morning mass at St. Stephan's cathedral in Passau, Germany (home of Europe's largest church organ).

Ian has also served as adjunct faculty at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and some of Ian's recordings with Naxos were selected as The New York Times and Boston Globe's Best Classical Music Tracks of 2019. Ian's principal teachers include Jeff Bradetich, Kristen Bruya (NWS alum), Chris Hanulik, Gudrun Raschen, and Brian Perry at the University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University and Aspen Music Festival.
