Jane Lim is a 17-year-old Korean-American violinist living in Rego Park, Queens. She is in her eighth year at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division, where she studies under Ms. Patinka Kopec. Her dream of becoming a violinist started when she was 7, and she was accepted as a student of Patinka Kopec in the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division when she was 10 years old. Jane has placed in numerous competitions, such as the Piano School of NYC Strings Competition, Enkor Int’l Music Competition, and the annual MSM Precollege Concerto Competitions. She has won first prizes in the Regina Rubinof Award for Strings (part of the Associated Music Teachers League Scholarship Award Auditions), the Rondo Young Artists Competition, the New York Young Virtuoso Competition, and the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition. In participating in the New York Chamber Players Orchestra Concerto Competition, Jane also earned a Fellowship with the New York Chamber Players Orchestra in 2021.
At the Manhattan School of Music Precollege, Jane has been an annual recipient of scholarships such as the Patinka Kopec Precollege Scholarship, the Chloe Kiffer Precollege Scholarship, the Kate Bamberger Precollege Scholarship, and the Cuker/Stern Endowed Precollege Scholarship. She has performed annually at all of the Scholarship Recitals for the scholarships which she was a recipient of. Additionally, her wide range of experience in holding orchestral seatings include sitting as Concertmaster of the MSM Precollege Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Concertmaster of the MSM Precollege Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2023, she was one of the students selected to participate in the Masterclass with Benjamin Bowman, Concertmaster of the MET Opera Orchestra.
During the summers, Jane has studied at the Heifetz International Music Institute Summer Program that takes place annually in Staunton, Virginia, since 2019. She first attended the Institute as a Junior Division student in 2019, then as a Senior Division student from 2021-2024.
