Dallas native Josh Flores is a passionate performer and advocate for the classical saxophone. He is a recent 1st prize winner of the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Competition (2023) and has placed in multiple international music competitions including the North International Music Competition (2021) and the Stockholm International Competition (2021). He also currently serves as the tenor saxophone chair of the Cosmos Quartet, which is a saxophone quartet based in Bloomington, IN. A strong advocate for premiering new works for saxophone, Flores regularly collaborates with the Indiana University composition department to premier new works for solo saxophone, saxophone and marimba, and saxophone quartet respectively. Josh is also currently in his 4th year of his undergraduate studies under the guidance of Dr. Otis Murphy at the Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
