Biography

Kearsen Erwin

Kearsen is currently in the third year of his undergraduate study at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. At the IU JSoM, Kearsen has had a plethora of opportunities to share his voice on the oboe and in arts activist circles alike. An avid orchestral, chamber, and solo oboist, Kearsen has also made appearances with the Carmel Symphony and the Lafayette Symphony orchestras in recent months. In the summer of 2023, Kearsen was invited to the inaugural DC reed seminar and the Chautauqua Institution to perform alongside a highly select group of performers. In addition to performing, Kearsen loves to pass down teachings to students, maintaining a private studio and other teaching engagements. Also in the summer of 2023, Kearsen will serve his second year in assisting with the IU JSoM summer music clinic for middle and high school students, as well as serving as junior faculty for the Bocal Majority summer oboe and bassoon camp in Austin, Texas. Outside of the oboe, Kearsen is the president of the IU organization, Classical Connections, which seeks to form meaningful partnerships between the students at the Jacobs School and local Hoosier communities.
