Stina Hawkinson is an oboist freelancing in the Chicago area. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music Degree at the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music and is studying with Prof. Michael Henoch. In May of 2022 she received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Oboe Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. There she studied with Prof. Linda Strommen. Hailing from Wilmette, IL, Ms. Hawkinson most recently performed as an oboist with Northwestern’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble. She has also performed with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra (Indiana), and the IU Conductors Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra as well as multiple chamber ensembles. Stina has performed under the direction of Mallory Thompson, Thomas Wilkins, Arthur Fagen, David Neely, and more.
At the Music Institute of Chicago, she took lessons with Erica Anderson and was awarded the Artist of Tomorrow Merit Scholarship. Ms. Hawkinson has also had the opportunities to perform in Carnegie Hall, tour in Italy, and was given the National School Orchestra Award for outstanding performance and leadership. Ms. Hawkinson has also attended the Hidden Valley Oboe Seminar, NEC Oboe Seminar, and the Interlochen Oboe Institute. Through these festivals and other masterclasses, Stina has worked with Elaine Douvas, Linda Strommen, John Ferrillo, Anne Gabriele, Michael Henoch, Roger Roe, Melissa Hooper, Liam Boisset, Alex Klein, Jaren Atherholt, and more.
