Violinist and violist Miranda Werner is currently pursuing her M.M. at the Yale School of Music, where she is a student of Soovin Kim. Last spring she graduated with High Distinction and Music Honors from Indiana University, where she studied violin with Mark Kaplan and viola with Mark Holloway.
Miranda has twice been a finalist in the Indiana University Violin Competition, and she was awarded runner-up in the 2022 Viola Competition. She has spent many summers cultivating her love for both chamber music and solo performance, first at Greenwood Music Camp, and more recently at the Heifetz International Music Institute, the Heifetz Chamber Music Seminar, and the Taos School of Music.
A passionate orchestral musician, Miranda has held principal positions in the Yale Philharmonia, the IU Philharmonic, and the IU Concert Orchestra. In December she served as Associate Principal viola during the 2022 New York String Orchestra Seminar.
When not practicing, Miranda can be found playing with her cats, writing stories, and getting lost in nature.
