Soprano Ksenia Popova has been hailed by The News Tribune as “a young soprano to watch.” Being based in the Pacific Northwest, Ms. Popova made role debuts of Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) with Pacific Northwest Opera, Josephine (H.M.S Pinafore) with Opera Coeur d’Alene, Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Juliette (Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette), and Polly Peachum (The Threepenny Opera) with Tacoma Opera for which she was cited as possessing “a soaring, powdered-sugar soprano” voice. Prior to her Seattle return, Ms. Popova was a Studio Artist at Tulsa Opera where she covered the role of Marguerite (Faust). As a Resident Artist with Opera San Jose, she performed in the student matinee of Lucia di Lammermoor (as Lucia) and Il Barbiere di Siviglia (as Berta) as well as sang Madeleine in the West Coast premiere of Kevin Puts’ Silent Night. In concert, Ms. Popova has appeared as the Soprano Soloist with Carmina Burana with Greater Seattle Choral Consortium (as part of the 2016 Folklife Festival), and twice with Sammamish Symphony Orchestra. Ksenia returns as the Soprano Soloist with a mini tour of Carmina Burana in the Spring of 2020.
