New York City based soprano, Marina Renée Nuñez, has been praised for “bringing plenty of personality as well as a terrific voice..” (Daniel Florip) to her roles.Previous roles include Older Sister in the New York premiere of the Opera: Who Married Star Husbands, Helena (Midsummer Night’s Dream), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Aurore (Le Portrait de Manon), Nella (Gianni Schicchi), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Kitty Hart (Dead man Walking) ,and Madame Silberklang (Der Schauspieldirektor). The 2020/2021 season will include a filmed production of L'incoronazione di Poppea, in which Ms.Nuñez will sing the title role, as well as a live production in May 2021. Marina will also sing the role of the Stroyteller in the world premiere (virtual) of Rendezvous with Bloody Mary with Christman Opera Company. Equally at home on the concert stage, Ms.Nuñez has performed as the Soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches. Ms. Nuñez has been a soloist and core member of the internationally acclaimed and Grammy nominated, Taylor Festival Choir in Charleston, South Carolina. There, she has performed in the Piccolo Spoleto Festival and Bach's Mass in B minor. Ms. Nuñez can also be heard as part of the choir on the Grammy nominated Naxos recording of Milhaud's L’Orestie d’Eschyle. An avid lover of art song, Marina has performed recitals in Náměšť, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, and the United States. She has been a featured soloist with Palm Beach Signature Chamber Series, as well as Opera Doral’s Concert Series. Ms. Nuñez is an alumna of the Castleton Festival Young Artist program, founded by the late Lorin Maazel, as well as the International Vocal Arts Institute, Institute Canadien d’art Vocal, and an Apprentice Artist with the Bel Canto Institute and Miami Summer Music Festival. Additionally, Ms.Nuñez is part of a classical duo called Universal Song Project, curating performances that collaborate with other art forms. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan under Martha Sheil and Master of Music degree from San Francisco Conservatory of Music under Cesar Ulloa. Marina is a recipient of the Francis B. Furlong scholarship and was a semi-finalist in the 2015 International Czech and Slovak Competition. Ms.Nuñez is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and proficient in German. Marina's non singing hobbies include hiking, exploring art museums, cooking, and coffee.
