Megan Stapleton
Spanning baroque opera to musical theater, Megan has performed as a soloist with the Boston Early Music Festival, Ars Lyrica, Mercury Chamber Orchestra, Houston’s Bach Society, and other Texas-based baroque chamber ensembles, as well as Houston Grand Opera, Houston G&S Society, Galveston Symphony Orchestra, and the Paul English Jazz Trio. She is a founding member, the primary vocalist, and the executive director of Houston Baroque, with whom she released the album “My Soul Sees and Hears” in 2016.

Biography

Megan Stapleton

With a heart for children, Megan has performed extensively in various children’s programs with Houston Grand Opera, including Opera To Go!, Storybook Opera, and First Songs. Regarded for her comedic timing and “lyrical physicality” (BroadwayWorld.com), Megan has performed three leading roles with Houston’s G&S Society. The Galveston Symphony Orchestra has welcomed Megan as their soloist on multiple occasions. Her professional career began in New England, where she sang with The Boston Early Music Festival, Boston Opera Collaborative, and Boston Metro Opera. She has recorded three new song cycles by Thomas Oboe Lee, and has also premiered works by M.C. Warwick, B.P. Herrington, and Gregory Spears. Megan’s versatility extends to the pop and jazz styles, as well, crediting her with regular performances as the featured vocalist for The Paul English Jazz Quartet. Megan holds degrees with honors from The University of North Texas (DMA), New England Conservatory (MM) and Sam Houston State University (BM).
