Biography

Nick Pelletier

Nicholas Pelletier is a first-year Viola Fellow at the New World Symphony. He has performed in venues across the world, including Carnegie Hall, Royal Concertgebouw and National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. His recent engagements include performances with the Houston Symphony, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Austin Camerata and Musiqa. Highlights include the premiere performances of Jennifer Higdon’s Duo Duel for Two Percussionists and Orchestra, as well as Cabaret of Shadows, a chamber opera with music by Laura Schwendinger.

Mr. Pelletier has spent multiple summers as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center as well as a participant in the Sarasota Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival and School, Bowdoin International Music Festival and National Youth Orchestra of the U.S. Throughout his career, he has been fortunate to perform under world-class conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph Eschenbach and Giancarlo Guerrero.

As a chamber musician, Mr. Pelletier has worked with renowned artists such as Emanuel Ax, Pamela Frank, Norman Fischer, Jeffrey Kahane and Cho-Liang Lin. Additionally, he has appeared as a guest artist with the Texas Music Festival as a part of their Faculty Chamber Music Series.

Mr. Pelletier earned his master of music degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University as a recipient of the Daraugh Anne Myers-Turner Endowed Scholarship and his bachelor of music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. His primary teachers include James Dunham, Marcus Thompson and Paul Murphy, with additional instruction from Joan DerHovsepian.
