Nita Vemuri is a freelance classical pianist, currently based in upstate New York and the tri-state area. Her musical journey began at the age of four, under the guidance of her mother, and she later delved into formal classical studies at 16. She is currently pursuing dual degrees in Economics and Piano Performance at Bard College-Conservatory under the tutelage of Gilles Vonsattel. Notable mentors in her past include Benjamin Hochman and Dr. Clive Swansbourne.
With a passion for both solo and chamber music, Nita has further enriched her musical education by attending summer programs: Atlantic Music Festival, Brevard Music Festival, AFA and the International Festival of the Adriatic. She also has participated in masterclasses with distinguished musicians such as Victor Rosenbaum, Logan Skelton, Wayman Chin, and the Neave Trio.
She also maintains a position on the Bard College Dean's List, reflecting her commitment to both academics and artistry and she was also recently a finalist in the Bard-Conservatory Concerto Competition. She has also received guidance from pianists Hitomi Koyama and Jose Ramon Mendez among several others.
Looking ahead, Nita is excited about the prospect of teaching and performing more, as well as collaborating with living composers. Her musical journey continues to unfold, and she remains steadfast in her pursuit of artistic growth and expression.
