Shawna Potter has been singing and dancing since before she could walk or talk. Her theater experience began in elementary school, attending drama competitions and performing in each production. She began playing guitar at age 12 and soon shifted from official school plays and musicals to writing and performing her own music, which she has been doing ever since.
After getting fed up with the every day sexism the music industry, Shawna began her journey into anti-harassment activism. Shawna’s book, Making Spaces Safer: A Guide to Giving Harassment the Boot Wherever You Work, Play, and Gather, is an excellent guide for anyone looking to make their community more fun and inclusive. Based on her years of experience empowering people through workshops and trainings, it’s the go-to actionable guide for anyone that wants to DIY a safer space. She is currently developing expertise in intimacy choreography & coordination for theater, film, and television, while hosting the podcast But Her Lyrics…, and continuing to facilitate trainings for all types of spaces.
Shawna Potter is the front-person for War On Women, is ordained to perform wedding ceremonies, and runs Big Crunch Amp Repair. She is available for speaking engagements, workshops & trainings, music collaborations, appearances, and other special projects. An avid TV watcher, cross-stitcher, and compulsive straightener-upper, Shawna is not satisfied waiting for the world to change.
