Skylar Fry is currently enrolled in her junior year at the University of Arizona, earning degrees in both Dance and English with a minor in Pre-Law and a certification in Technical Writing. She has trained in various styles of dance such as ballet, modern, jazz, tap, contemporary, partnering, salsa, and west coast swing. She aspires to dance professionally in a modern or ballet company while traveling and diversifying her cultural and artistic experiences. Some of her favorite experiences in the realm of ballet include performing with Gulfshore Ballet in full-length works such as Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, and The Sleeping Beauty. She has also studied with various modern companies in the summer, performing in The Winged alongside The Limon Dance Company, and Side Effects and Nascimento alongside Parsons Dance.
While at the University of Arizona, Skylar has performed a variety of repertoire including Tammy Dyke-Compton’s False Front, Chris Compton’s The Spaces Between, Lorin Mathis’ Time, and Michael Williams’ &theVerdictIZ. Approaching her third year at the university, Skylar is hoping to continue working and performing with the faculty while beginning her own creative project and workshopping choreography. She has always been compelled to create work of her own, and is looking forward to setting a piece on her amazing peers this semester!
Outside of the studio, Skylar is a published book editor, freelance writer, international english tutor, avid yogi, and enthusiastic student. In her free time, she loves to read, hike, make jewelry, mix music, and watch movies. Skylar is always experimenting with her own curiosity, trying new things, and exploring the world through her love of dance and communication.
