Sophie Manoloff is a New York-based freelance trumpet player. She recently graduated from New York University in May of 2021 with undergraduate degrees in Trumpet Performance and Music Business. Sophie held the Principal Trumpet position at NYU for all four years and was the Student Assistant for Brass Studies, under Wayne DuMaine. She has studied trumpet with Pete Bond, Kevin Cobb, Joe Burgstaller, Ladislav Kozderka, Tom Hoyt, Judith Saxton, and Ryan Resky. Versatile in Broadway, Legit, Big Band, Latin, R&B, Funk, and Pop styles, and a doubler on Flugelhorn and piccolo trumpet, Sophie also sings and is proficient in piano, guitar, and drum set, with producing skills in Logic Pro X and Final Cut Pro. In the fall of 2021, Sophie will go out with the Broadway National Tour of Fiddler on the Roof as the solo Trumpet / Flugelhorn chair (see Gigs page for tickets). In addition to Broadway touring and subbing, Sophie most notably plays in the New Heights Brass Band, and a regular at Smalls jazz club playing trumpet and singing.
