Biography

Tyler Martin

In 2020, Tyler was selected as a member of the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra, Texas Music Festival Orchestra and was granted a full-tuition teaching assistantship at Brevard Music Center. He was also a featured performer in the Celebration Series of the 2020 NFA Convention. In 2019, Tyler was selected as a substitute flute for the Houston Symphony Orchestra, and was awarded Honorable Mention in the Boston Woodwind Society: Doriot Anthony Dwyer Flute Competition. As a freelance artist, Tyler has performed in countries across the globe including; Spain, France, Italy, Brussels, Switzerland, and the Dominican Republic. Having worked on various projects he can be heard performing in numerous recordings, most recently in the premiere of a new wind septet for Primary an original one-act ballet produced by Tiffany Lawson Dance Company. An avid performer of new and contemporary music, Tyler has performed numerous world and consortium premieres and was the dedicatee of a new flute and piano work entitled Between. Around. Above. written by composer and friend Alex Berko. As an orchestral musician Tyler has played with numerous ensembles including but not limited to; the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Phoenix Chamber Orchestra, the Boston Chamber Symphony, Columbia Civic Orchestra, and the Hear and Now Contemporary Ensemble. Additionally, he is a founding member of Trio Duende, a Chicago based Flute, Cello and Piano Trio. In addition to performing Tyler is passionate about teaching and music advocacy.
