Yangxin Song started to learn the violin from her Chinese teacher Mingjian Liu when she was 5. At 13, she performed ten standard violin concertos and 24 caprices of Paganini.
Yangxin is now the student of Daniel Phillips and was also instructed by Honggang Li, the founder of the Shanghai String Quartet. She has played over a hundred concerts in China and the United States (including solo recitals).
In 2014, she participated in the Schoenfield International Violin Competition and the CCTV Piano and Violin Competition. In 2018, she participated in the second Siqing Lv Shenzhen Futian International Strings Music Festival and as a semi- final participant in the Competition. In April 2019, Yangxin performed Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major with the Wuhan Gypsophila Orchestra.
Yangxin was also a member and founder of the Dongting 81 Quartet, which was founded on January 1, 2021. The quartet won the first prize of the Hummingbird Music Award in the China Youth Music Competition and the gold medal in the Vienna International Chamber Music Competition.
In 2022, as a junior, she won the Bard Conservatory Concerto Competition, and she played the Prokofiev Violin No.2 Concerto with the The Orchestra Now in the New York Performance Space in February 2024. In addition, Yangxin was nominated for the Arthur Foote Award of the Harvard Music Association in 2022.
