About

Audivi celebrates its tenth season as a professional vocal ensemble based in Detroit, Michigan. Performing music of all eras, Audivi has appeared at conventions and festivals including ACDA Central and North Central conventions, the AGO New England convention, and several tours. Equally at home with familiar and unusual repertoire, the professional singers frequently perform one-on-a-part, and present music rarely heard from other ensembles. Audivi has brought in Baroque specialist instrumentalists for Detroit-area historical-performance premieres of Monteverdi’s 1610 Vespers and Bach’s Mass in B minor. The singers in the group perform with top ensembles around the world. Many of the singers also have successful conducting careers of their own, and one of the co-founders now serves as music director for Chanticleer. Audivi often joins the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as a larger chorus, expanding its numbers to accommodate projects as needed by the orchestra. Recent performances have included Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9, Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Puccini’s Turandot, with Mahler’s Symphony no. 2 taking place next month. Audivi typically presents several projects per year in Michigan, mostly in the southeast region but also having visited Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Traverse City, and more. The ensemble welcomes interest from talented singers who wish to make music at the highest possible level, whether for chamber projects or for symphonic choruses. Audivi also does educational outreach work for collegiate and K-12 programs.
