Emerging Artists Theatre

EMERGING ARTISTS THEATRE acts as an incubator for new voices from the page to the stage. EAT was founded 28 years ago to provide a dynamic home where playwrights and artists explore their work from their imagination and guide it through development towards full artistic realization in our New Work Series. It is a process that involves audience interaction with the artists and enables the artists to be the key ingredient in the development of their work. Emerging Artists also has a great reputation for its Off Broadway premieres that have garnered a Drama Desk nomination, the American Theatre Wing’s grant award for Sustained Excellence in Theatre and Top 10 Critics Picks from the New York Times. Emerging Artists provides the necessary backdrop of resources so that there is no cost to the artists involved and does not believe in charging artists for submission, consideration, or participation. This factor alone makes Emerging Artists unique and a true refuge for the underserved artist who does not have the means to develop their work. And EAT is proud to have given that opportunity to over 5000 artists since its inception.
