GREYZONE explores the transformational power of inherited movement traditions and the creation of self within community. Melding deconstructed ballet and modern dance vocabularies, visual arts, and time-based media, GREYZONE’s works for film and stage uncover non-narrative theatricality and highlight the ritual of performance. GREYZONE was founded by and is under the direction of Lindy Fines and Justin Fines.
AMPLITUDE, a GREYZONE dance created by Lindy Fines in collaboration with performers Katerina Belmatch and Chisato Yanagisawa, combines movement and media to create a collage of human experience. The performers shift through states of joy, isolation, effort, intimacy, and connection, suggesting a mystery that is just on the edge of being revealed. While deconstructing and reprocessing classical shapes, the dancers’ vulnerability will be exposed and become a mirror for the audiences’ own humanity. Performed at Pioneers Go East Collective’s CROSSROADS series at the 14th St Y Theater.
