Pacific Lyric Association

Pacific Lyric Association is an independent Southern California opera company created in 2006 by Dr. Carlos Oliva to offer young opera singers the opportunity to perform main roles in independent productions, accessibly priced to the public to include a broader audience. The "signature format" for our opera productions features a narrative vignette in English before each act, to attract a young and first-time opera audience to this universal art form. The narrative vignettes, performed by local actors, are designed to keep the audience engaged in the musical drama without being distracted by supertitles. Pacific Lyric features their signature "paella musical" format for "zarzuelas", traditional Spanish operettas, in a dinner-theatre setting.
