National Symphony Orchestra of Uruguay

Founded in 1931, the Sodre Symphony Orchestra is one of the emblems of Uruguayan culture, dean among the state orchestras of the continent, and a name recognized by the great artists of the world throughout its more than eight decades of life. Resident at the Dra. Adela Reta National Auditorium, from there he develops his vocation as a national symphony orchestra with international projection. Thus, in his first concert, on June 20, 1931, he offered an eclectic program that integrated works of different styles and periods together with the work of a living national composer -Eduardo Fabini- broadcast live throughout the country by the radio of the Sodre. In addition to bringing together the best musicians in the country, great figures from the world of music - directors and soloists - have passed through it throughout its history. The list extends if we consider the figures from the world of opera and dance who performed in Sodre productions with the orchestra performing in the pit. In 2021 he assumed his direction Mtro. Stefan Lano.
