Gigi Lin is a classical soprano, actor, and visual artist currently based in New York City. This summer, Gigi joins Lyric Opera of Orange County as Cupid and Diana (cover) in Jacques Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld. Selected as part of Lyric Opera OC’sroster of Emerging Studio Artists, she will also appear in their Death by Aria concert, a showcase of rising singers. Additional performances include scenes from Mozart’s Così fan tutte as Fiordiligi, and from Le nozze di Figaro as Contessa Almaviva with NYU Opera. She will conclude the summer season as Zweite Dame (2nd Lady) in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with New York Opera Forum. This fall, she will appear in Dvořák’s Rusalka as 2nd Wood-Sprite with New Jersey Opera Theatre.
In the 2024-2025 season, she made her role debut as Norina in Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale with Taconic Opera in their summer programming, as well as a vibrant portrayal of Frasquita in Georges Bizet’s Carmen at the historic Tarrytown Music Hall alongside Taconic Opera’s main season in the fall. Gigi made her operatic debut in the 2022-2023 season on Taconic Opera’s main stage as Poussette in Jules Massenet’s Manon, as a part of their 25th anniversary season at Yorktown Stage. Other recent credits include Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos as Naiad, as Giannetta in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, and Suor Osmina and Lay Sister in Giacomo Puccini’s Suor Angelica. In addition to staged works, Gigi appears in concerts and recitals in collaboration with other musicians in the New York City Metropolitan Area.
Gigi received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Arts from Pennsylvania State University where she focused her studies in Fine Art and Music—concentrating in visual art and classical voice. She fulfilled both disciplines through her education in the School of Music and the School of Visual Arts. Through Penn State Opera Theatre, she was involved in the productions of Bizet’s Carmen and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. She is currently a Master of Music in Vocal Performance: Classical Voice and Opera Studies student at New York University in the studio of mezzo-soprano Dianna Heldman.
