Biography

Uma Singh

During the 2025-2026 season, soprano Uma Singh made her debuts with Lyric Opera of Chicago as Beryl Barbelle in Katie: The Strongest of the Strong, Sarasota Opera as Jou-Jou in The Merry Widow, and Wolf Trap Opera where she covered Tatiana in Eugene Onegin. Singh completed a Fulbright Scholarship during the 2024-2025 season on Franz Liszt’s Lieder at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, where she also sang the Soprano Solo in Britten’s War Requiem. Singh was a Studio Artist with Central City Opera in 2024 and with Chautauqua Opera Company in 2023. At Northwestern University, where she received her Masters of Music in 2024, she sang Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, the title role in Alcina, and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte. Singh received her Bachelors of Music from the University of Michigan in 2021, where she sang Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice. Singh has won awards from the Laffont Competition, Casa Italia, the American Opera Society of Chicago, and the Musician's Club of Women.
