Wolf Trap Opera is one of the nation’s most highly regarded residency program for emerging professionals in the opera business. The young artists on our roster sing all roles in our productions. Our main venue is The Barns at Wolf Trap, and our parent organization is The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts. We're in Vienna, Virginia, about 15 miles west of Washington, D.C.
Così fan tutte is Mozart’s most polarizing opera. Often considered the perfect ensemble opera, Così features ravishing melodies and glorious arias, duets, and sextets. The emotionally complex and quick-fire comedy offers an examination of sexual attitudes and the battle between love, reason, and human fallibility.
Wolf Trap Opera's Studio Artists perform various opera scenes directed by Haley Stamats and collaborative pianists Michelle Papenfuss, Manuel Arellano, and Ye In Kwak. Program includes Sondheim's A Little Night Music, Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Idomeneo, Bizet's Carmen, Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, Jake Heggie's Two Remain, Kamala Sankaram's Thumbprint, Bernstein's West Side Story, Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites, Kander & Ebb's Chicago, and Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier.
Considered one of the world’s most popular operas, Puccini’s romantic depiction of Parisian bohemians captivates audiences. Soaring arias and glorious melodies collide with harsh realities. Wolf Trap Opera’s bright cast will embody the relatable and endearing characters in this heart-wrenching tale, leaving no one unmoved.
