The company will showcase the world premiere of Flagello’s ‘Beyond the Horizon.’ This is the first time that the company presents a work by the composer. The opera will be mostly in English and explores ‘the themes of hope, disillusionment, missed life opportunities and the pursuit of dreams through the story of two brothers in conflict over love and destiny, this production promises an experimental and immersive experience.
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the premiere of Verdi's Requiem, Opera Magnifico presents a afternoon evening of Verdi favorites from emerging professional and local artists with dramatic and exciting voices. The concert will feature staged favorite scenes from Verdi hits such as La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Verdi's Requiem, and more. Join us for this magnificent performance! This season includes five exciting productions, two world premieres, Beyond the Horizon as Kate Mayo and Tin Angel as Heather with Teatro Grattacielo, as well as joining the company as Marcellina. Additionally, Melina joinied Heartbeat Opera as the Page / Slave in Salome, covering Herodias. They will join Opera Company Middlebury as Zita, adding to their whopping list of 44 roles performed and covered. They will be singing excerpts from Rigoletto and Il trovatore with Opera Magnifico on their Verdi concert, as well as joining Regina Opera for a concert series.
2023-2024 brought covering Santuzza and performing Lola with Regina Opera and joining the company for concerts, and covering Santuzza and Mamma Lucia with MidAtlantic Opera Productions. They covered La Gran Vestale with Teatro Grattacielo. Melina joined Bronx Opera as La Ciesca, Marianna (Il signor Bruschino) and Fairy Queen (Iolanthe). The summer brought Fricka/Erda in Das Rheingold.
Highlights of thoer 2022-202 include covering La madre di Butterfly (Madama Butterfly) and scenes as Eboli and Ulrica Sarasota Opera. The summer includes covering Amneris, Ortrud and Mrs. Soames with Utah Festival Opera. She will also be performing Mrs. Gibbs (Our Town) with the BU Opera Institute.
Her 2021-2022 season included singing the title of Carmen with MIOpera. the world premiere as the title role of Charley in Good Country with LOLA Austin, Isabella in Zandonai's Giulietta e Romeo with Teatro Grattacielo as well as covering Bellx and Calypso in Nighttown with Lowell House Opera.
In 2018, Melina trained as a Studio Artist at the Wolf Trap Opera where they performed the role of the Contessa di Ceprano (Rigoletto) and covered Maddalena. Other role studies and performances include Hannah After (USA and Portugal), Leonore cover (Oxford Philharmonic), Gertrude, Mimì and Contessa Almaviva, Anna Maurrant and Fiordiligi (Martina Arroyo Role Prep Class). Equally comfortable speaking German and English, she studied in Vienna, Austria at the Konservatorium Prayner in the year before her graduate studies.
Melina is a Greek citizen.
