Biography

Alexander Soloway

Alexander Soloway is a pianist and vocal coach of the Lindemann Young Artist Program at the Metropolitan Opera. Originally from Ottawa, Canada, he was previously a member of the Ensemble Studio at the Canadian Opera Company (2019-2021). In 2021, he appeared on CBC music’s list of 30 exceptional Canadian classical talents under 30. As a collaborative pianist, he has won awards including the Best Pianist’s Prize in the 2021 Marilyn Horne Song Competition and the 2019 Festival Classica International French Mélodie Competition. As a student, he won both the Chamber Music Competition and Classical Concerto Competition at McGill University. He has performed extensively across North America and Europe, including in venues such as the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre in Toronto, the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Bruno Walter Auditorium and Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in New York. He is an alumnus of The University of Toronto (B.Mus) and McGill University (M.Mus). He is also an alumnus of the Music Academy of the West (USA), the Franz Schubert Institut (Austria), Académie Francis Poulenc (France), and the Orford Music Academy (Canada).
