In 2023, Alexis made her professional debut at the Teatro Petrarca with OperArezzo in their performance titled "Sull Aria." This summer, Crist will perform Nella in Gianni Schicchi with Lawrence Opera Theatre.
Alexis Crist is a 2024 graduate of Oklahoma City University. She graduated magma cumme laude with her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Music Education and Vocal Performance. While in attendace at Oklahoma City University, Crist sang the roles of Diana (Orpheus in the Underworld) and Second Woman (Dido and Aenas). Alexis also had the opportunity to perform as Eliza (US)/Ensemble in the World Premiere of "A Friend of Dolly," which was a joint project with Oklahoma City University's OPERATIONS and Project 21 Composers.
Alexis moved from her hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in August 2020 to start a new journey and experience as many musical opportunities as humanly possible. In this quest, she worked at St. Francis of Assisi Parish under the direction of Alvez Barkoskie IV for just under 3 years. She also was the Intern for Canterbury Youth Voices of Oklahoma City and got to perform along side the group when they were selected as the representatives for the state of Oklahoma in December 2022 to perform at the 80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor parade. She also had the opportunity to lead sectionals, conduct several pieces and organize rehearsal spaces for the organization.
In 2023, Alexis made her professional debut at the Teatro Petrarca with OperArezzo in their performance titled "Sull Aria." Rehearsals and performance training for this Young Artist Program was provided through Oklahoma City University and the Accademia della arte in Arezzo, Italy. During her training, Alexis performed and collaborated with Lisa Love, Joe Fitzgerald, Mario Cassi, Giovanni Firpo and Silvia Vajente.
This summer, Crist will perform Nella in Gianni Schicchi with Lawrence Opera Theatre. Alexis will also sing in the chorus of Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci, and perform in the opera and musical theatre scenes. Alexis Crist is thrilled to present her professional directoral debut in the musical theatre and opera scenes production.
Upon graduation from Oklahoma City University in May 2024, Alexis moved back to Lincoln Nebraska to work for Theatre Arts For Kids focusing on music directing, teaching voice, violin, cello, theory and viola, performance, and more. One of her greatest joys has been to watch the program that she grew up in continue to impact other young artists in Lincoln and the surrounding community.
Over her career, Alexis has studied with Leah Arington, Dr. Kelly Holst, Dr. Taylor Hutchinson, Dr. Eric Frei, Carrie St. Louis, Olivia Yokers, Berri Garver, and James Mitchell. Outside of her studies, Alexis is a substitute teacher for Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska, a staff singer and in the childrens ministry for St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Lincoln, and teaches private lessons. She also enjoys playing her violin which she studied with Rauf Aliovsadzade for 12 years during primary school. Alexis says her greatest joy is getting to share the stories behind music through any means. "The beauty behind the music that we keep performing, studying and talking about is that it connects all people together. Music is a universal language that is undeniably important to the living beings as shown in many instances around the world. We can all connect through music. I know that I am here to tell these stories and pass on this music to the generations that come after us."
