Alyssa Campbell is a New York City based violinist and violist specializing in music
from the renaissance through romantic eras. She holds a master’s degree in historical
performance from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Cynthia Roberts, Elizabeth
Blumenstock, and Rachel Podger. Prior to her time at Juilliard, she studied with Aaron Berofsky
and Joseph Gascho at The University of Michigan, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in
violin performance.
As an orchestral musician, Alyssa has played with ensembles across the United States
and internationally. These include Les Arts Florissants, The Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra,
Juilliard415, La forza delle stelle Baroque Orchestra, Kollective366, and ARTEK Early Music.
With Juilliard415, Alyssa has performed Heinichen’s G Major Concerto as a violin soloist at
Corpus Christi Church in Manhattan, and Bach’s 6th Brandenburg Concerto as a viola soloist
under the direction of Masaaki Suzuki in Alice Tully Hall. Additionally, in 2022 she participated
in a concert tour of Germany with Juilliard415 and Yale’s Schola Cantorum. As a chamber
musician, Alyssa has performed in concert series such as the Dans les Jardins de William
Christie in France, Music Before 1800, The Gotham Early Music Scene Midtown Concerts, The
Bohemians (New York Musicians Club), The Silentwoods Collective, and the Carmel Bach
Festival.
When not performing, Alyssa is also a dedicated music teacher and researcher. She
maintains a private violin studio both virtually and in-person in New York City, and in 2022
began working with the Scarlatti Foundation to analyze and gather data on the complete
keyboard sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti. When not playing music, Alyssa enjoys collecting
vintage sheet music, eating spicy food, and kayaking.
