Biography

Carlos Pedroza

Native of El Paso, TX, Pedroza's most recent performance was with Opera Magnifico's production of Donizetti's Don Pasquale, in which he debuted as the title role. Among the remarkable career highlights of the Mexican-American Bass, are international debuts for the roles of il Gran Sacerdote & Dottore Grenvil, in the 2021 Opera Classica Europa’s productions of Nabucco and La Traviata in Germany. Mr. Pedroza also took part in other productions the same year such as La Cenerentola and Aida, as a chorus member. Along with these operatic debuts, Pedroza also was featured in a concert series as a soloist, imparted by the Internationale Opernakademie. Performing opportunities have led him to premiering and debuting a variety of operatic works, such as the international premiere of Lelia M. Sadlier’s American Opera The Ugly Princess, in which he performed one of the lead roles, as part of the international summer program Cornish American Song Institute (CASI) in the summer of 2019, England. Other roles include Baptista in the American premiere of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, an original adaptation and composition to the play by Paul Elwood; Ulysses S. Grant in the University of Northern Colorado’s Opera Theatre production of Virgil Thompson’s The Mother of Us All; Colline with the University of Texas at El Paso’s Opera Theater production of La Boheme.

Upcoming performances include Mahler's symphomy N.5 with the Philadelphia Symphonic Orchestra and more to be announced.
