Irene Long

Irene Long is a talented Pianist and Accompanist, her journey has woven a tapestry of accolades and artistic endeavors. Long's performances has graced stages on multiple continents, from Washington D.C., New York City, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Indiana in the United States to international destinations as Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Lanzhou, and Guangxi in China, as well as Malaysia and Singapore.

Guided by Professor Edward Auer, Irene's prowess as a Soloist has garnered her a Distinguished Artistic Fellowship at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She also achieved the distinguished honor of First Prize in the Hong Kong International Piano Competition.

In the year 2022, Long embarked on an exhilarating chapter, venturing into the world of Contemporary Music. Her exceptional talent propelled her onto a national tour, where she assumed the role of an ambassador for Chinese Contemporary music. Throughout her academic journey at Indiana University, Long has been an integral part of the IU Wind Ensemble Band and Symphonic Concert Bands. She collaborated with distinguished conductors Rodney Dorsey, Eric Smedley, and Jason H. Nam. Her solo piano contributions during the band's concerts left a profound impact, garnering praise from esteemed composers, faculty members, and enthralled audiences alike. As a soloist within the band, she showcased her versatility by masterfully playing multiple instruments, including the Piano, Amplified Piano, and Celesta. Notably, the concert held on November 14, 2023, featuring compositions by Katahj Copley, James David, and David Maslanka, will be live-streamed, solidifying her position as a prominent representative of the renowned U.S. concert band soloist tradition.

In addition to her role as a soloist and pianist, Long serves as a dedicated accompanist at the IU Ballet Department. She actively participates in ballet productions and major performances, enhancing the synergy between music and dance. In 2023, Long joined Belvoir Terrace Ballet program, collaborating with distinguished faculty members from the New York City Ballet. The faculty dancers she've been working with including luminaries like Dena Abergel, Sarah Wroth, Michael Vernon, and Christian Claessens, among others.

Beyond her solo compelling pursuits, Irene's collaborative artistic technique thrives harmoniously. She nurtures partnerships with Symphonic and Wind bands, instrumentalists, vocalists, dancers, showcasing her adaptability and artistry in diverse settings. Long's brilliance radiates as the Music Director and Accompanist at Belvoir Terrace in Lenox, Massachusetts. In her tenure, she seamlessly collaborates with accomplished musical performers and esteemed conductors from Broadway. She's assigned to accompany "Funny Honey" for Broadway star Rachel Schur, renowned for her portrayal of Roxie Hart in the Chicago Broadway show. She was fortunate to receive guidance from Broadway Conductor Ted Sperling while performing "Gimme Gimme" alongside with musical actress.
