Jonathan is a contract member of the Greenville Symphony and performs regularly with the Greensboro Symphony. In the summer of 2023, Jonathan will attend the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival in Stellenbsoch, South Africa. Jonathan’s hobbies include reading and learning about the art of bonsai.

Cellist Jonathan Simmons is an active performer and teacher based in Greensboro, NC. He teaches an online studio of cellists across eight US states and as far away as Australia. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee including the North American premiere of the Rudolf Matz Cello Concerto.
Jonathan is a contract member of the Greenville Symphony and performs regularly with the Greensboro Symphony. He graduated from BJU summa cum laude in 2017 and from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University in 2020. Jonathan is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of North Carolina Greensboro studying with Dr. Alex Ezerman. His primary teachers have included Dr. Yuriy Leonovich, Dr. Christopher Hutton, and international soloist Wendy Warner.
