Biography

Mary Dibbern

Mary Dibbern, an adjunct professor of opera coaching, is a classically trained pianist with extended experience in vocal collaboration. Her interest in French language and music led her to study with Nadia Boulanger and work in Paris where she lived for thirty-one years. She has worked internationally as a recital accompanist, vocal coach, masterclass teacher, recording artist and lecturer. She has a special interest in working with emerging singers and pianists to help them make the transition from higher education studies to professional music careers. Dibbern has collaborated with publishers to create editions of unknown French vocal and chamber music. She has translated both study and performing versions of French, German and Italian opera librettos, as well as French writings in musicology. She is currently Music Director of Education at The Dallas Opera and studying at the University of Texas at Dallas for a PhD in humanities with special concentration in art history and translation studies. She earned a master of music magna cum laude in piano performance and collaborative piano from Southern Methodist University as a student of Paul Vellucci. She earned a BA summa cum laude in piano performance from University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.
