Nathan Little is a trumpet player in the United States Army Field Band Concert Band. Prior to his appointment with TUSAFB, he was freelance musician in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He holds his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, his master’s degree from the University of North Texas, and his performer’s diploma from Southern Methodist University.
Nathan was formerly 2nd Trumpet of the Amarillo Symphony, and prior to his tenure with the Amarillo Symphony, Nathan served as the Principal Trumpet of the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Garland Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony Arlington, where he also appeared as soloist. Nathan has also performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Plano Symphony Orchestra, Irving Symphony Orchestra, Waco Symphony Orchestra, and the Dallas Winds. Nathan was a member of Dallas-based quintet Encore Brass and regularly appeared with other area chamber ensembles including Perennial Brass and Imperial Brass.
Nathan was also a winner of the 2021 Aspen Music Festival and School Concerto Competition, where he spent two summers as an Aspen Conducting Academy Fellow. He has also had performances at Carnegie Hall as both a soloist and chamber musician. Nathan was also a member of the Baylor University Gold Trumpet Ensemble, who won First Prize at the 2018 National Trumpet Competition Small Ensemble division. As a soloist, Nathan has comissioned new works for trumpet by James M. Stephenson and Jordan R. Tucker.
When not playing trumpet, Nathan enjoy's hiking, running, and kayaking. He especially enjoys the company of his wife Felicity with these activities, ideally in the setting of the National Parks they visit!
