New York City-born tenor Reykwaan Adorno is establishing himself as a versatile performer with a passion for opera, art song, and new works. His artistry has brought him to companies such as Marshall Opera, the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, Teatro Nuovo, the Seagle Festival, and the Crane Opera Ensemble.
Reykwaan’s stage experience spans both traditional and contemporary repertoire. He has appeared as Augusto in Leoncavallo’s Zazà, Turner in the world premiere of Anthony R. Green’s I Was Shot by a Cop, Sasha in Fiddler on the Roof, and the Sheep/Teen Duck in the outreach tour of Andrew Duncan’s The Ugly Duckling. Additional credits include chorus work in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Frank Pesci’s The Strangers, and William Grant Still’s Mota.
Concert and recital work is a central part of his artistic life. Highlights include performances in CALLAS: Past and Future, Boys of Summer, the Oral History Project Concert, and the Concert for Equity and Equality. A strong advocate for accessible music-making, Reykwaan partnered with the Lift Music Fund to organize a mini-recital fundraiser supporting young musicians of color. He has also been featured on the Crane School of Music’s Honor’s Recital series and given numerous solo programs throughout his training.
Recognition for his work includes being named a finalist in the 2022 Civic Morning Musicals Competition, as well as earning the Crane Certificate in Performance and scholarships such as the McMenamin and Pamela Michener Fox ’59 awards. Reykwaan holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where he studied with Dr. Deborah Massell and Prof. Donald George, and performed extensively with the award-winning Crane Opera Ensemble. His further development has included training with the Seagle Festival and the Duncan Williams & ASPSNY Summer of Song program, working with artists such as Sidney Outlaw, and Elizabeth Stevens.
He currently studies privately with tenor Gioacchino “Jack” LiVigni and Kamal Khan. In addition to singing, Reykwaan is an experienced mover with training in ballet, modern, and step. He is deeply invested in interdisciplinary projects that unite music, movement, and storytelling, driven by a commitment to both artistic excellence and equity in the arts.
